Cleaning Rain Gutters

You probably thought, “That’s a job I’ll never have to do.” If that’s the case, and you don’t clean your rain gutters, you’ll be sorry because down the road you’ll have problems. We can almost hear you say, “Sure!” The problems will be more profound than clogged rain gutters. What will happen, the clogs stop the flow of rain down the gutters, and wherever that happens, it causes a dam that collects water that will run right through your attic, and down your walls and ceilings.

Then you’ll have roof damage as well, and you are probably aware of the cost when that occurs.

To solve the problem is really simple. Set a couple of days during the year to climb up a ladder, and don’t set that ladder against the rain gutters, anyway, check the gutters to be sure there are no dead leaves, birds, toys, or other objects that will block the flow of water. It won’t take the entire day, and you’ll have the satisfaction of taking care of your home before damage happens.

There are many ways to clean the gutters, and of course you can buy assorted objects at your local hardware store. They offer exten-sion poles so you won’t have to climb up that ladder, or tongs to remove the stuff that collects. There are gutter nozzles or if you want to spend more money there is a remote controlled gutter running robot. No matter what method you decide to try to make the job easier, you’ll eventually have to climb that ladder that you won’t lean against the gutter itself, and scrub the gutters clean.

Now that sounds like a good way to ruin a perfect day. However you’ll have an-other option. There are businesses that have steady jobs cleaning their customer’s gutters, and when they do it on a regular basis, the business will be in and out beforeyou’re even aware they’re there.

If you’re a DIY and know you can handle it, let us give you a few pieces of advice, and that advice is free. It’s best if you wear gloves and safety goggles, and a mask is also a good idea. You never know what you’ll find up there. Be sure that your ladder is steady or use a ladder stabilizer. Just scoop the stuff into a garbage bag, use a trowel, then with your garden hose with a pressurized nozzle rinse the dust and dirt down, but don’t let that water drip onto your house or you’ll have another job to do.

Clean Those Gutters Now!

No time like the present to do a job that you hate, but one that is absolutely necessary no matter where you live. Clogged gutters (and we’re talking about house gutters here, not the gutter running down your street) anyway clogged gutters can cause very serious damage to your home. When water pools at any point along your gutter, the clog forces the water to run down through the wood and on into the foundation.
Leaves during fall are some of the main problems, but there are other objects that find their way to the top of your home and into your gutters. You might consider toys, or small balls from the neighbor’s kids that think you stole their toys. When you clean your gutters regularly that alone will alleviate that problem.

However there are many other things that will cause the clog. One of them is just plain dirt and grime, and you know how the wind can stir up those problems. Every place on earth has strong winds and they’re not only in your area. Those winds can toss leaves and other stuff onto your roof even in the summer months.

So don’t just plan to clean the gutters right before winter sets in. Winter sometimes brings ice, and water pooled on your roof will turn to ice. So maybe it doesn’t get that cold where you live, you’ll still have problems.

Another thing to be cautious about is anytime you plan to use a ladder. As you know, ladders and gutters go hand in hand, and you’ll probably need a ladder to reach the gutters. Caution is the word to follow, and if your ladder needs to lean against the house just be careful that you don’t lean the ladder against the gutters. If you do, plan on replacing a section of the gutter, because water won’t run through a damaged gutter. A ladder with four legs might be the better choice, and even those ladders can be dangerous.

Anytime you step one foot up a ladder, it can be dangerous. We learn early never to walk under a ladder, because it’s bad luck. Luck though has nothing to do with ladders, and they are still dangerous. So don’t count on luck.

If we’ve discouraged you from cleaning out the gutters on your home, you might consider hiring a professional. Go online and you’ll find many listed. Again be cautious and find a person who guarantees their work, and one who has references. Check them out, but don’t forget, Clean Those Gutters, Now!

Commercial Window Cleaning: Call A Professional

Cleaning windows on a commercial structure almost always requires the hands and the experience of a professional. Of course there are those individuals who own commercial buildings and attempt to clean the windows themselves or hire individuals on the cheap to do so but the result is always far less than spectacular.

In sharp contrast to laypersons, professional window cleaners bring with them not only the experience needed to make commercial windows look fantastic but commercial grade tools and cleaning chemicals as well. Not all windows on all buildings are made from the same type of glass and not all types of glass require the same type of cleaning. Those individuals that try to tackle this job themselves find this out quickly after damaging windows during a cleaning. Professional window cleaners know which tools and chemicals to use on which windows and can even add sealants and protectants to windows that help them stay looking great in between professional visits.

Should you have any questions about commercial window cleaning or be in need of a professional to clean your windows please be sure to contact us so that we may be of assistance!

Cleaning Different Types of Glass

Without going into the manufacturing of the different types of glass, there are basically only two types that we have to deal with on a daily basis. A professional window cleaning company will most likely know the different types and possibly may run into all of them. In business, the most common type of glass is the tempered glass because of the way it breaks into small pieces just like your vehicles.

Tempered glass is the most problematic especially if the glassmaker doesn’t know exactly what he is doing. After they cut the glass to size, they said the edges to get rid of the sharp edges. Then they heat the glass to around 5000 degrees F. and after that they cool it quickly. That makes the glass break into tiny pieces.

In today’s energy efficient world, contractors demand insulated glass units for their homes or small offices. Even some cities require this type of glass installed in all new construction especially private homes or apartments. They divide the insulated glass into two pieces separated by a spacer that allows air or even gas sealed between the panes. They use the tempered glass as well for this type of glass.

Homeowners love this type of glass because it acts as a sound barrier. Often a thin coating that limits the sun’s rays from passing through the glass and is applied when they make the glass and then again after it goes through the heating process.

Correcting scratched glass can be difficult especially when they apply the scratches intentionally. Painted graffiti is not usually removed; they simply paint over the area on fences or the side of the building. However when they scratch the graffiti on the glass it can be permanent and at the very least is difficult to remove. In many instances, the glass must be replaced.

Carelessness is one of the main causes of scratches on glass when the glass is delivered to the home or business. If the glass is placed flat on a surface the glass can be damaged beyond repair by workers if they place their tools on the glass. When you order glass from the manufacturer make sure they guarantee that they will deliver the glass in perfect condition.

Cleaning the different types of glass is best done by a professional or an informed homeowner. There’s more to maintaining glass than soap and water, and clean windows should be the desire of all.
